Three Stakes Set For Saturday, January 27 At Harrah's Louisiana Downs

BOSSIER CITY, LA-JANUARY 23, 2018-Horsemen at Harrah's Louisiana Downs are filling the entry boxes and nominating plenty of stakes runners for the 2018 Quarter Horse meet.

The $15,000 Swift Stakes, at 350 yards overfilled, so racing secretary David Heitzmann added a second division. Both will be run on Saturday, January 27, along with the $25,000 Party Girl Stakes for accredited Louisiana-bred fillies and mares.

In the first division of the Swift Stakes, to be run as race five, Strong Guns, owned by Carlos Acuna, will break from post position four as the 3-1 morning line choice. The 6-year-old son of Strong Hope was an impressive winner in the $100,000 Louisiana

Racing fans may not have been familiar with rider Everardo Rodriguez one year ago, but the talented jockey just completed a highly successful 2017. The 28-year-old was born in San Luis Potosí, a city in central Mexico and began riding professionally in 2013.
