Hezaa Fast Boy Prevails In $70,000 Louisiana Classic Stakes at Delta Downs Saturday

VINTON, LA–JULY 16, 2022–Restricted grade 2 winner Hezaa Fast Boy got his second consecutive stakes win on Saturday when he defeated Tuckers Prize by a neck in the $70,000 Louisiana Classic Stakes at Delta Downs.

Under jockey David Alvarez, Hezaa Fast Boy dueled throughout while completing the 440 yards in :21.758 seconds, a 94 speed index. It was the fifth career win for the son of leading sire Heza Fast Dash. The winners' purse valued at $42,000 increases Hezaa Fast Boy's earnings total to $129,500.

Jesus Marquez trains the 5-year-old gelding for owner Rogelio Marquez, Jr.  Simmons Racing bred the bay gelding from the Feature Mr Jess champion mare Brenda Beautiful.

“Heza Fast Dash is arguably one of the best sires in Louisiana," owner Rogelio Marquez, Jr. said following the victory. "On top of that his dam is exceptional as well. This horse wasn’t the fastest two-year-old or three-year-old but my dad and I have learned that you have to be patient. horses with good pedigree will figure it out."

Hezaa Fast Boy won the Vals Fortune / Teddy Abrams Jr. Stakes(RG2) in his previous start July 1st at Delta Downs.

Graded stakes winner Tuckers Prize earned $14,000 for finishing second. Owned-and-trained by Preston Jourdan, the 6-year-old Fast Prize Dash gelding has earned more than $263,000. Ubaldo Luna had the riding call aboard the brown gelding from the Game Patriot mare Bb Secrets Game. Kirby and Phillip Bruchhaus is the breeder.

Jrs Coronas Toast finished three-quarters back to earn $7,700 for third. Paul Rigdon trains the Coronas Leaving You gelding for himself, Gyth Rigdon, Gerardo Gonzalez and Juan Fernandez.  Arturo Alvarez rode the multiple stakes-placed gelding out of Egos Toast To Dash by Toast To Dash. Bred by Julien Stevens III, Jrs Coronas Toast has banked $96,354 in 29 career starts.

Jj Heza Fast Dash Jr, Ponookies Fast Cash, El Camino Cl, Lett It Happen, Maggies Runaway, Tee Britt and Tdz Royal Runaway completed the field.
