Ivan James Filly Tops Schooling Race on First of Two Nights at Delta Downs

Delta Downs hosted 12 schooling races for 2-year-old filly who remain eligible for for the Lassie Futurity(RG2) or the Old South Futurity Wednesday night.

VINTON, LA–APRIL 13, 2022–Fifty-five 2-year-old fillies participated in 12 training races conducted Wednesday night at Delta Downs. All participants must remain eligible for the upcoming Lassie Futurity(RG2) on May 4th or the Old South Futurity trials on April 29th.

Trainer Jose Sanchez III captured the fastest time of the night in Race 4 with Ttt Lil Blackstreak, a daughter of third-crop sire Ivan James from the Game Patriot mare Maxed Out Streak. Owned by Joe Reyna and ridden by jockey Luciano Duenez, Ttt Lil Blackstreak stopped the timer in :12.37 seconds following an impressive 2-1/4 length win.

The second dam is Evangeline Downs Futurity winner Streakin Amber, by Streakin Lil Jolla, who is the dam of three black type winners.

Party Tyme, a $30,000 LQHBA Yearling Sale graduate owned by Jerry Deville, Jr., scored the second fastest time in Race 5 when she defeated the Power Jam (TB) filly Streak Of Power by half-a-length and recorded a time of :12.38 seconds.

Trainer Jose Lopez named jockey Everardo Rodriguez to ride the daughter of multiple stakes sire Five Bar Cartel from the Dashin Bye mare Dashin Kate Perry. Party Tyme is a half-sister to Louisiana Juvenile winner Heza Lawman and Delta 50 Stakes winner Dirtwater Dash.

Champion trainer Kenneth Roberts, Sr. led all trainers on the card with four winners. He saddled Roses First Prize in Race 1, Wild Train Fortune in Race 6, Half Time Cash in Race 12 and Blood N Corona in Race 11.

Trainer David Bustamante had three winners on the card while Leonel Hernandez saddling two.

Five Bar Cartel and Apollitical Blood tied for the leading sire on Wednesday's card with three winners each.

Delta Downs will offer another schooling card of 11 races on Thursday (Apr. 14) night for 2-year-old colts & geldings who remain eligible to the Laddie Futurity(RG2) or Old South Futurity.
