Fastest Qualifier Not Perry Pretty Returns to Win Old South Futurity


Not Perry Pretty, under red-hot rider Raul Ramirez, Jr., gets up to win the $87,225 Old South Futurity Friday night at Delta Downs.

VINTON, LA—MAY 22, 2015—Not Perry Pretty put ins a solid rally under jockey Raul Ramirez, Jr. to get up at the wire by a neck over Paint Me A Storm in the $87,225 Old South Futurity Friday night at Delta Downs. Noblejesselie Inview finished half-a-length back in the show position.

Saddled by Lanny Keith and owned by Kaitlen Emfinger, Not Perry Pretty completed the 330 yards in :16.814 seconds to pickup the winner's purse of $43,612. Now a perfect 2-for-2, the Dash Ta Fame filly entered the Old South Futurity off an impressive 2˝ length victory in her first career start when she won at odds of 27-1. On Friday night fans sent her to the gate as the wagering favorite at 3-2 odds and she did not disappoint her backers.

Steve Tate bred Not Perry Pretty in Louisiana from the Special Leader mare Tf Ms Special Perry. Friday's win pushed her earnings mark over $47,000.

Still winless in four starts this season Paint Me A Storm bumped at the start but put in a game effort for owner Winners Racing and trainer Kenneth Weeks. Randy Hill and Andy Golden bred the Red Storm Cat gelding in Oklahoma from the Pyc Paint Your Wagon mare Paint Me Golden. Ridden by John Hamilton, Paint Me A Storm picked up $14,828 for his effort.

A $16,500 TQHA Yearling Sale repurchase last summer for Mercy Hinklins Horse Farm, LLC, Noblejesselie Inview earned $8,722 for his third place effort. Kenneth Roberts, Sr. conditions the Hinklins homebred by Jess Elie from the Separatist mare Separatist In View. Donald Watson had the riding assignment.

Not Perry Pretty paid $5 to win, $4.20 to place and $3.20 to show. Paint Me a Storm was worth $23.20 to place and $10.60 to show. Noblejesselie Inview returned $7.40 to show.

Completing the Old South Futurity field were Coming And Going, Over You, Tg Coronas Memory, Vipor, Less Effortless, Jess Carter V, Bm Casina Royale.

Delta Downs wraps up its fifth week of racing on Saturday night with another 10-race program that begins at 6:15 pm CT. Saturday’s card includes a pair of stakes races including the $53,595 Old South Derby and the $50,000 Vinton Stakes.
