Rich LQHBA Sale Futurity Headlines Saturday State-Bred Stakes Bonanza at Delta Downs


Delta Downs will host the $525,420 Louisiana QHBA Sale Futurity (RG1) for state-bred 2-year-olds, will be contested at Delta Downs on Saturday.

Six state-bred stakes, topped by the 350-yard, $525,420 Louisiana QHBA Sale Futurity (RG1) for state-bred 2-year-olds, will be contested at Delta Downs on Saturday.

Ruse Ranch LLC's Ruse Splash Train, a graded stakes placed daughter of Freighttrain B trained by Luis B. Ramirez, drew post 3 and will be ridden by J.R. Ramirez in the LQHBA Sale Futurity. The homebred black filly set the eighth-fastest qualifying time with her neck victory in one of 12 trials on August 12. Ruse Splash Train has earned $143,432 from six races, and her record includes a second-place finish, 1 1/2 lengths behind winner San Lorenzo Jet, in the 350-yard, $744,000 Lee Berwick Futurity (RG1) on July 16.

Everythingyouneed, a gelded son of Jet Black Patriot trained by Kenneth Roberts Sr. for owners Tony E. Sedillo and Absolute Refrigeration, is coming off of a one-length win in the ninth trial. The gelding has banked $28,022 from six outs in New Mexico and Louisiana, and he was a finalist in the April 3, $217,000 West Texas Futurity (G2) at Sunland Park, and the May 22, 350-yard Four Corners Futurity at SunRay Park.

Everythingyouneed drew post 2 and will be ridden by Ricky Ramirez.

Following is a preview of the other five stakes, listed in the order they will be run on the card.

Six Louisiana-bred distance specialists are entered in Saturday's 870-yard, $30,000 Faubourg St. John Stakes (R).

Gidget Dugas' Masons Jet Black is coming off of a three-quarter length victory in the July 16, 870-yard Live Oak Stakes (R) at Delta Downs. The 5-year-old Jet Black Patriot gelding has won six of 21 races -- including five of 13 at the 870 trip -- and he has earned $133,623.

Masons Jet Black drew post 4 and will be ridden by Paulina Ramirez for trainer Juan Cano.

Six state-bred 2-year-old colts and geldings are entered in the 350-yard, $30,000 LQHBA Sale Juvenile Stakes (R).

The lone multiple winner in the field, Aliver Guevara's Big Daddys Blue Eyes, has won two of five outs and has banked $21,887, all at Delta Downs. A finalist in the Firecracker (G2) and Louisiana Breeders' Laddie (RG2) futurities, the Inseperable gelding will be ridden by David Alvarez for trainer Porfirio Fierro.

Saturday's 350-yard, $30,000 LQHBA Sale Debutante Stakes (R) has attracted a full field of 10 Louisiana-bred 2-year-old fillies, headed by Mrs Kennedy TLC.

A bay daughter of The Louisiana Cartel trained by Miguel Pizana ffor owner Edwardo Lopez, Mrs Kennedy TLC has earned $192,596 from six outs, and her five wins include a three-quarter length victory in the 300-yard, $383,000 Mardi Gras Futurity (RG2) at Louisiana Downs on March 27.

Mrs Kennedy TLC sold for $6,500 at last year's LQHBA Yearling Sale. The filly drew post 10 and will be ridden by Arturo Alvarez.

Louisiana-bred 3-year-old fillies will be in the spotlight in Saturday's 330-yard, $40,000 Audubon Stakes (R).

Trainer Kenneth Roberts Sr. will send out two contenders, including Margaret McKerley's Flying Adelia. A homebred daughter of Apollitical Blood, Flying Adelia is coming off of a second-place finish, three-quarters of a length behind winner Patriotic Trump, in the 400-yard, $188,000 Delta Downs Derby (RG2) on July 16.

Flying Adelia drew post 3 and will be ridden by Ubaldo Luna.

Rogelio Marquez Jr.'s Hezaa Fast Boy heads a full field of 10 state-bred sprinters in Saturday's 400-yard, $40,000 Mid-City Stakes (R).

A 5-year-old Heza Fast Dash gelding trained by Jesus M. Marquez, Hezaa Fast Boy won two stakes during the main portion of the Delta Downs' meet, including the 440-yard, $70,000 Louisiana Classic Stakes (RG2) on July 6. The gelding drew the rail post and will be ridden by David Alvarez.
