Heza Louisiana Dash, Jes A Fast Dasher Renew Rivalry in Opelousas Stakes

OPELOUSAS, LA—NOVEMBER 6, 2017—Heza Louisiana Dash and Jes A Fast Dasher are among the six state-bred aged sprinters entered in Saturday’s 400-yard, $40,000 Opelousas Stakes (R) at Evangeline Downs.

Heza Louisiana Dash and Jes A Fast Dasher ran one-two, respectively, in a pair of state-bred stakes during the Delta Downs meet, including the 440-yard, $100,000 Louisiana Classic Stakes (RG2) on July 8. Heza Louisiana Dash is a 5-year-old Heza Fast Dash gelding trained by Kenneth Roberts for Robert S. Holland’s TM Ranch, and he has banked $134,400 from just four starts this season.

Heza Louisiana Dash drew post 2 and will be ridden by Gilbert Ortiz.

Jes A Fast Dasher is trained by Roberts for owner Tony Doughtie, who also bred the 5-year-old son of Heza Fast Dash. A multiple stakes winner, the gelding has won seven of 19 outs and has earned $475,259.

David Alvarez will ride Jes A Fast Dasher from the rail post.
