VINTON, LA—JUNE 7, 2020—Jess A Candy Rogue, a Louisiana-bred son of world champion Apollitical Jess and a $30,000 purchase at last year’s Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale, is one of 92 2-year-olds entered in Thursday’s Old South Futurity trials at Delta Downs.
The 10 fastest qualifiers from Thursday’s 350-yard heats will meet in the July 4, $151,255 Old South Futurity final.
Jess A Candy Rogue races for Omar Paredes and Edmar Paredes from the barn of trainer Alonso Neri. The bay colt is coming off of a wire-to-wire, 1-1/4-length victory as the 2-1 favorite in a 350-yard Heritage Place Futurity (G1) trial at Remington Park on May 9.
Jess A Candy Rogue drew the rail post and will be ridden by Victor Urieta Jr. in the sixth of 10 trials.
Of the 92 juveniles entered in Thursday’s Old South Futurity trials, 55 will be making their first official career starts.
