The ninth of the 12 trials offers a very intriguing matchup between two horses that have won Futurity Finals already in 2017. The 9-5 morning-line favorite is Three Bar Cartel, who won the $353,700 Grade 2 Dash For Cash Futurity at Lone Star Park in September. The 7-2 second choice is Sixes Flash, who triumphed in the Grade 2 $274,325 Firecracker Futurity at Delta Downs in July.
There are also other horses entered in the trials that have won Futurities in 2017. Dont Temp Me, the 2-1 favorite in the second trial, won the $81,430 Old South Futurity at Delta Downs in May. Sr Shambles, the 2-1 favorite in the sixth trial, took the $108,800 Heartland Futurity at Indiana Grand in July.
The $309,600 Evangeline Downs Futurity is one of four major finals that will be run on Saturday, December 16. The $1,000,000 LQHBA Louisiana Million, the $150,000-added LQHBA Breeders Derby and the $50,000-added Evangeline Downs Derby will also take place that Saturday night.
