First Prize Doc Gets First Stakes Winner

First Crop sire First Prize Doc sired his first stakes winner on Saturday.

WELSH, LA—SEPTEMBER 9, 2017—First crop sire First Prize Doc got his first stakes winner on Saturday when Private First Prize won the $33,024 LQHBA Sale Invitational at Fairgrounds Racecourse in New Orleans.

Ridden by jockey Noe Castaneda, Private First Prize completed the 350 yards in :17.814 seconds to pocket the winner's purse worth $12,550. Trainer Kenneth Roberts, Sr. conditions the sorrel filly for owner/breeder Dewey Kendrick III. She is out of the Oak Tree Special mare Private Oak.

Saturday's win should boost First Prize Doc into the "Top Ten First Crop Sires of Leading Money Earners" for 2017.

From a limited number of starters, the son of leading sire Pyc Paint Your Wagon has sired three winners and 1 stakes winner.

His top performers include the aforementioned stakes winner Private First Prize (winner at 2, $13,870, LQHBA Sale Invitational), Dolls Regal Doc (winner at 2, $21,180), One Sixy Doc (winner in only start at 2, $3,000), Bc Swamp Rockette (placed in only start at 2, $2,530), Special Prize Dash ($2,1900), etc.

At the racetrack, First Prize Doc won or placed in nine of 14 career starts and banked $73,700. He won the Gentilly Dash Stakes and was third in the Evangeline Downs Dash Stakes.

Among AQHA's leading sires of money earners every year, in eight crops to race Pyc Paint Your Wagon has sired 604 winners, 183 stakes horses, earners of $27.6 million with average earnings per starter of nearly $30,000.

First Prize Doc is out of Former Broodmare of the Year First Prize Dash, a sister to all-time leading sire First Down Dash. The daughter of Dash For Cash is the dam of 30 ROM, 28 winners, five stakes winners, four stakes-placed including Grade 1 winners First Prize Leesa ($488,270), First Carolina ($415,047), First Prize Robin ($295,147) and Fast First Prize ($244,929).

First Prize Doc is a half-brother to former Leading Sire of Money Earners Heza Fast Dash (sire of earners of more than $26 million), multiple stakes sire First Prize Perry (sire of a 2017 finalist to the $3 million All American Futurity) and leading Canadian Sire First Timber (sire of more than $1 million in money earners), etc.
