Diamonds Cartel Tops Equine Sales Company Quarter Horse Consignments


Equine Sale Company hosted their first Quarter Horse session during the just completed Open Yearling & Mixed Thoroughbred and Quarter Horse Sale held Saturday in Opelousas, Louisiana.

OPELOUSAS, LA—NOVEMBER 22, 2020—Diamonds Cartel, a yearling son of multiple stakes sire Carters Cartel, topped the 39 Quarter Horse consignments that were offered as part of the Equine Sale Company Open Yearling & Mixed Thoroughbred and Quarter Horse Sale held Saturday in Opelousas, Louisiana.

Equine Sale Company reported the 27 of the 39 Quarter Horses offered sold for $85,600, an average of $3,170 and Median of $2,400. The Louisiana based thoroughbred sale company opened their annual mixed sale to Quarter Horses this year after the LQHBA announced they would not conduct their fall sale in 2020.

Mario Vazquez paid $9,000 for high-seller Hip #12 Diamonds Cartel from the Blancet Farms LLC, Agent consignment. The Carters Cartel colt is out of a half-sister to RG3 winner Diamonds Achivement. This is the famiy of world champion and former leading sire Tinys Gay and champion Lucks Gay Chick, etc.

Barbara Kelley was the sale's leading Quarter Horse buyer with five head for $12,300. Blanchet Farms, LLC., Agent led all Quarter Horse consignors or agents with 15 head grossing $46,700. They also sold four head for Montgomery Equine Center for $19,000.

Jess Elie was the leading Quarter Horse yearling sire (by average with two or more sold) with two head for $3,500. Heza Fast Rogue had two for $2,600.

Paint Me Perry was the leading Quarter Horse covering sire (by average with two or more sold) with two in-foal mares for $5,500. Jess Bein The Hero had three in-foal mares for $3,133 and Coronas Leaving You had two for a $2,300 avearge.
