2014 LQHBA Yearling Sale Ends Two-Day Sale With Major Across-the-Board Increases


LQHBA ended their 2014 yearling sale on Saturday with major across-the-board increases.



KINDER, LA—AUGUST 9, 2014—A Heza Fast Dash colt was the star of the just completed 2014 LQHBA Yearling Sale when he brought a $130,000 bid in the first of a two sessions at the 38th annual sale held at the Coushatta Casino Resort in Kinder on Friday and Saturday.

The sale enjoyed major across-the-board increases with a 30% rise in gross receipts on the 383 head marked sold for a total of $4,943,400. Last year's auction registered a $3,810,450 gross on 367 head sold. The sale average rose by 24% to $12,907 compared to $10,383 in 2013. The median saw a 29% increase to $8,000 as compared to $6,200 last year.

"This was by far our best sale ever," LQHBA Executive Director Tony Patterson said following the final session on Saturday. "We want to thank all of the buyers and consignors for making this another outstanding year for us," he added.

Four yearlings topped six-figures with Hip 188 Louisiana Fast Dash, a Heza Fast Dash colt from the Mr Jess Perry mare Eyejesslovelouisiana, as the sale's top seller at $130,000. TM Ranch purchased the yearling in Friday's session from Jumonville Farms.

The second high-seller occurred on Saturday when M.C. Morris paid $120,000 for Hip 416 Miss Stoli Fast. From the first Louisiana-crop of leading sire Stoli, the sorrel filly is out of the RG1 placed Heza Fast Dash mare Fast Dash N Deb. Robicheaux Ranch, Inc. consigned the filly as Agent for Tim and Jennie Rogers.

TM Ranch also purchased the third high-seller on the first day, Hip 106—Half Time Blues for $102,000 from Jumonville Farms. The Jess Louisiana Blue filly is a half-sister to stakes winner Political Option, Sizzlin Cartel and Louisiana Blue Dream.

TM Ranch was the sale's leading buyer with seven head grossing $439,000. Talmade Green purchased six yearlings for $156,900 and M.C. Morris had two head for $135,000.

Robicheaux Ranch, Inc., Agent was the sale's leading consignor with 23 head grossing $530,110. Jumonville Farms consigned 11 yearlings that grossed $354,800, J & B Racing sold eight yearling for $245,000 and Bielau Oaks had 14 yearlings total $231,300. Also of note was Robicheaux Ranch, Inc. sold numerous other yearlings as agent for individuals including the 6th and 8th highest grosses.

First-crop sale sire American Runway led all sires (by average with two or more sold) with two yearlings averaging $37,500. Last year's national leading sire Heza Fast Dash had 27 yearlings average $25,022 leading Jess Louisiana Blue had 18 head average $21,589 and Game Patriot had 34 sale yearlings that averaged $21,509.
