Multiple Stakes-Placed San Lorenzo Dash Kicks Off 2023 Campaign With Allowance Win

BOSSIER CITY, LA–FEBRUARY 16, 2023–Multiple stakes-placed San Lorenzo Dash kicked off her 4-year-old campaign with a neck win over Jess Dash Fast in a $14,000 220 yard feature allowance at Louisiana Downs.

Under jockey Rolando Cabrera San Lorenzo Dash completed the sloppy (sealed) racecourse in :11.127 seconds, equaling a 105 speed index with a 16 mph tailwind.  It was the sixth career win 16 starts for the daughter of leading sire Heza Fast Dash.

Racing for owner -breeder Rogelio Marquez Jr., San Lorenzo Dash earned $8,400 to bring her bankroll total to $104,014. Trainer Jesus M. Marquez saddled the filly out of San Lorenzo Eagle by One Famous Eagle.

Runner-up Jess Dash Fast, under jockey Jorge Garcia, earned a 103 speed index and picked up $2,800 for second. Also a graded stakes-placed daughter of Heza Fast Dash, Jess Dash Fast races for owner Juan Montoya and trainer Roberto Madrigal. Jumonville Farms and Burnett Ranch bred the $137,342 earners from the Mr Jess Perry mare Eyejesslovelouisiana.

Jla Indy Rogue, under jockey Juan Garcia, Jr., finished one-length back to earn $1,530 for third. Robert Meche saddled the graded stakes winning daughter of Heza Fast Rogue for owners Karen McKinnon and Annette Faul. Joanie Gore bred the brown filly from the Promissory (TB) mare French Indy (TB). The Evangeline Downs Futurity(G3) has earned $217,820.

Tttroyalityntheblood and Neza Classified completed the field. Featured Prospect was scratched.
