Lrh Heart of Glass Dominates in the $50,000 Louisiana Starter Stakes at Delta Downs

VINTON, LA – JULY 16, 2022 – Lrh Heart of Glass won her third straight race impressively as she took down the $50,000 Louisiana Starter Stakes at Delta Downs on Saturday night.

The stakes race was restricted to Louisiana-bred 3-year-olds and up who have started for a claiming price of $7,500 or less in 2021-2022.

Lrh Heart of Glass ($4.00), with Arturo Alvarez up, broke well and gained ground quickly to win by just under two lengths. She earned an 89 speed index with a time of :17.624 in the 350-yard event.

Francisco Campos, Jr. trains the 3-year-old Five Bar Cartel filly for Carlos Campos. She is five for 11 in her career and undefeated at Delta Downs. With the winner’s share of $24,000, her earnings now total $80,532.

Lrh Heart of Glass was bred by Jetty and Donald Lemaire, out of the Oak Tree Special mare Lrh Heartofanoak.

Five Bar Joy and Ubaldo Luna finished in second place, half of a length in front of Heza Kool Rogue and Leonardo Rodriguez in third place.

Five Bar Joy is also a daughter of Five Bar Cartel and is out of the Strawfly Special mare Prairie Strawfly, bred by Carl Ferguson. The 4-year-old filly is trained by Luis Martinez for owner Amanda St. Amant.

In her last start, Five Bar Joy finished second in a starter allowance at Delta and is now stakes placed for the first time in her career. Her earnings to date total $34,243.

Heza Kool Rogue made his first appearance in a stakes race on Saturday night for trainer Jose Barron and owner Lucio Martinez. The 3-year-old gelding has $19,644 in 12 starts.

Teresa Bartlett bred Heza Kool Rogue out of American Kool, by First N Kool.

Completing the field were Force of Anakin, Toasta Patriot Chick, Ms Olivia B Wagon, Nice Legs, Shez Inseparable, Cr Ease Love and Quick Jets.
