Dashing Jess Cuervo Undefeated in 2022 After Win in Featured Allowance Race at Louisiana Downs

BOSSIER CITY, LA – MARCH 20, 2022 – Dashing Jess Cuervo was an easy winner of the featured race at Louisiana Downs on Sunday, a $15,000 featured allowance for 3-year-old and up Louisiana-breds.

Dashing Jess Cuervo ($4.60) defeated King Intriguing Blue by a half-length in the 330-yard event. The final time of 16.971 earned the winner a 93 speed index.

Everardo Rodriguez had the call on Dashing Jess Cuervo for trainer Ruben Chavez and owner Rosendo Valdez. The 4-year-old filly is by Jess Cuervo and out of Dashing Well, by Strong Hope, bred by William Bernard Fournet.

The co-favorite at post-time, Dashing Jess Cuervo has now won four of her last five starts and is seven for 15 lifetime. As a 3-year-old, she qualified to the Mardi Gras Derby at Louisiana Downs last March and the Evangeline Downs Derby in December. She added $9,000 from Sunday’s race to her career total of $75,246 earned.

King Intriguing Blue and jockey Guadalupe Lucio, Jr. cleared the rest of the field by a length and a half in their second-place finish for trainer Octavio Saenz, Jr. and owner Juan Lozano, Sr.

Henry Melancon, Sr. bred King Intriguing Blue, who is sired by Jess Louisiana Blue and out of Call Me Intriguing, by Call Me Together. The 5-year-old gelding has four wins from 17 starts and $66,130 earned to date.

Tm Dee First Bar and jockey Gilbert Ortiz finished third for trainer Vann Haywood. The 4-year-old son of Five Bar Cartel is owned and bred by Two the Max Investments LLC, out of the stakes winning mare Call Her Dee, by Deefirst.

Tm Dee First Bar won an allowance race at Louisiana Downs in February in his most recent start; he is three for 18 lifetime with $43,480 in earnings.

Tuckers Prize completed the field in fourth place under jockey Ubaldo Luna. The co-favorite is owned and trained by Preston Jourdan and was bred by Kirby and Phillip Bruchhaus, out of the Game Patriot mare BB Secrets Game.

The accomplished 6-year-old gelded son of Fast Prize Dash has 10 wins in 35 starts with $210,275 earned.  He is multiple graded stakes placed and won the Louisiana Champions Day Derby (RG3) at the Fair Grounds in 2019.

Brileys Prize and Fast Dashin Logan were scratched.
