Sheza Fast Blood Proves Fastest For The Lassie Futurity At Delta Downs

The final of the Lassie will take place on Saturday, June 12.
The fastest qualifier for this year’s Lassie Futurity was Rayne Knight’s Sheza Fast Blood, who won the fourth trial on the program with jockey Gilbert Ortiz in the saddle for trainer Michael Zingelmann.
Sheza Fast Blood powered to a 4-¼ length win in her trial while stopping the clock in 16.608 seconds, which equaled a speed index of 93. Each trial on the program was contested over a sealed track listed as muddy.
Sheza Fast Blood was making her second career start in the trials. She finished second in her career debut at Louisiana Downs on March 20 in maiden company. She earned $7,200 for her win on Friday and now has a bankroll of $9,660. Each trial carried a total purse of $12,000.
Bred in Louisiana by Nash Development LLC, Sheza Fast Blood is a 2-year-old filly by Apollitical Blood, out of the Heza Fast Dash mare Mcm Sheza Fast Cutie. She was purchased as a yearling for $15,500.

Delta Downs will close out its race week on Saturday with a special 16-race program that starts at 12 pm. Each race on the card will serve as a qualifying trial for this year’s $346,842 Louisiana Laddie Futurity (RG2).
