LQHBA Yearling Graduates Post Top Two Fastest Times In Colts & Gelding Schooling Races at Delta


Delta Downs hosted nine schooling races today, over a sloppy wet track, for 2-year-old colts and geldings who remain eligible for the Laddie Futurity(RG2) or Old South Futurity.

VINTON, LA—APRIL 30, 2021—A pair of 2020 LQHBA Yearling Sale Graduates posted the top two times on Friday during Delta Downs nine 220-yard schooling races contested for colts and geldings who remain eligible to participate in the Laddie Futurity(RG2) and the Old South Futurity.

The 46-day Delta Downs Quarter Horse meet will get underway on Monday, May 10 and run through July 31. The Old South Futurity trials will be contested May 11th and the Laddie Futurity(RG2) trials are scheduled for May 22nd.

Blood Money, a son of leading third-crop sire Apollitical Blood, posted the fastest 220 yard time of :12.180 on Friday when he defeated Hello Sweet One by one-length in Race 5.

Owner-trainer Rosendo Valdez, Jr. named leading jockey David Alvarez to ride his $17,000 LQHBA Yearling Sale graduate out of Mile High Futurity(G2) winner Zoom To The Money by Shazoom. Bred by Spring Hill Farms, Blood Money is from the family of champion See Me Gone.

Jockey Floriberto Maldonado rode Jess Louisiana to a 1-¼ length win over Be Corona in the third race to get the second fastest clocking of :12.181 seconds. Trainer Jose Oviedo conditions the son of multiple stakes sire Jess Louisiana Blue for owner Fernando Lopez.

Maldonado paid $12,000 for the half-brother to stakes winner JD Wagon Boss. Bred by Jumonville Farms, from the Fishers Dash mare Elly Mae, Jess Louisiana's second dam is the world champion See Me Do It.

Moonin Senoritas, a $62,000 Heritage Place Yearling Sale graduate owned by champion breeder Bobby D. Cox, posted an impressive 2-¾ length win in the Race 7 to record the third fastest clocking of :12.253.

David Alvarez had the riding call aboard the daughter of champion and second-crop sire Moonin The Eagle for champion trainer Kenneth Roberts, Sr. Out of the multiple Grade 3 winner Senorita Tres by Tres Seis, Moonin Senoritas is a half-brother to Oklahoma Derby winner Politically Correct and stakes winner Brookstone Grey.
