VINTON, LA—AUGUST 15, 2020—Champion Trump My Record put in a solid effort to defeat Mr Tereso by one-length in the $200,510 Firecracker Derby(G3) Saturday night at Delta Downs.

Under jockey Eddie Sanchez Trump My Record raced to his 11th win in 13 career starts while completing the 400 yards in :19.671 seconds, equaling a 94 speed index. Conditioned by Jose Luis Sanchez III, the $100,255 winners' purse boosted his bankroll to more than $901,000.

Breaking from post position four in a field of 10, Trump My Record was bumped and knocked sideways coming out of the starting gate by Mr Tereso, who came into the race off a score in the Old South Derby at Delta Downs on July 3.

The contact put Trump My Record more than a length behind Mr Tereso who went on the lead the race until the final 100 yards when jockey Eddie Sanchez urged his mount to lay it all on the line. His mount did just that, propelling himself to a one length win over Mr Tereso. Clever Seis Cartel finished third, another 1 ¼-lengths behind the top two.

Immediately after the race the stewards call for an inquiry to review the action at the start. After a studying the video, the officials disqualified Mr Tereso and placing him seventh. That moved up Clever Seis Cartel to second and A Game Jess to third.
