Corona Prize Gets Up To Win Lakeview Dash at Fair Grounds

NEW ORLEANS, LA—SEPTEMBER 7, 2019—Corona Prize under jockey Luis Vivanco rolled down the outside post to get up by a neck over Gunna Be Alright in the final strides of the $40,000 Lakeview Dash Stakes at Fair Grounds Race Course on Saturday. In a blanket-finish of the first six horses to cross the wire, post-time favorite Shesa Diamond Diva was another head off the leaders to get third.

Racing for owner Agapito Villanueva and trainer Miguel Rodriguez, Coronas Prize completed the 250 yards in :13,131 seconds, equaling a 95 speed index into a 3 mph crosswind.

The daughter of multiple stakes sire Fast Prize Dash has compiled a (12) 4-1-0 record and today's $24,000 winner's purse pushes her earnings mark to $70,497. She entered the race off a fourth place effort in the Audubon Stakes on the opening day of the Fair Grounds meet. Eddie Cramer bred the brown filly from the Corona Cartel mare Corona Baby.

Gladney 1 LLC's Gunna Be Alright earned $8,000 for her runner-up effort. Champion trainer Kenneth L. Roberts, Sr. conditions the daughter of leading sire Heza Fast Dash from the Streakin La Jolla mare JJ Streakin Illusion. The graded stakes winner bred by Jo Baya Foreman has earned nearly $90,000.

Coming off a second-place effort in the LQHBA Breeders Derby in her last start, Shesa Diamond Diva picked up $4,400 for third. The graded stakes-placed daughter of Struttin To Beduino races for Crown Horse Racing LLC and is trained by Jose Luis Sanchez III. Eddie Sanchez was aboard the $391,135 earner. Paul C. Fontenot, Jr. bred the gray filly from the Heza Fast Dash mare Heza Fortune.

Tk Zoomaway, Mr Range Rover, Hot Prize, Packin A Punch, A Fast Ram and The Cazador completed the field. Amending The Bar was scratched.
