San Lorenzo Corona Heads Delta Undercard That Includes Four Additional Stakes


San Lorenzo Corona, under jockey Victor Urieta, Jr., winning the $100,000 Louisiana Classic(RG2) Saturday night at Delta Downs.

VINTON, LA—JULY 6, 2019—In additional action on Saturday at Delta Downs San Lorenzo Corona was victorious in the $100,000 Louisiana Classic(RG2) with jockey Victor Urieta, Jr. in the saddle.

Owned by Rogelio Marquez, Jr. and trained by Josue Ponce, the son of Coronas Leaving You has now won three races in a row and eight times in 16 trips to the starting gate.

The 5-year-old completed the 440 yards in :21.309 seconds, equaling a 108-speed index

, The brother to champion Open Me A Corona picked up $60,000 for the effort to bring his career mark to just under $255,000. Jim and Natalie Montgomery bred the gray horse from the Mr Eye Opener mare In The Open.

Also by Coronas Leaving You, Dlj Imma B Famous finished second for owner Myron McKinnon. Alberto Solis trained with Saul Ramirez, Jr. getting the riding call on the 6-year-old out of Yogo Buds by Strawflyin Buds. Bred by Donald Henderson, he earned $20,000 for the effort

Saul Dorado's Lightemupwithcharm picked up $11,000 for third. Ebelyn Rojas conditions the Sizzlin Cartel gelding out of Grace Filled Charm by Feature Mr Jess. Jumonville Farms is the breeder.

Beyondthecos, Jls Dash N Fire, Mpshinning, Featuring Fast Jess, Tan Jet, Rigsby and Sizzlin On Da Bayou completed the field.

Heza Lawman Wins $50,000 Louisiana Juvenile

Serving as a consolation for the Lee Berwick Futurity was the $50,000 Louisiana Juvenile, and the 350-yard showdown was taken by Heza Lawman with jockey Everardo Rodriguez in the saddle for trainer Ned Goutierrez, III.

Heza Lawman completed the 350 yards in :17.562 seconds, a 91-speed index. He has now won two-of-four starts for his career and earned $40,800. Michel Carlton bred the chestnut gelding from the Dashin Bye mare Dashin Kate Perry.

Blues Fortune, a filly by Jess Louisiana Blue, racing for owner The Horse Force LLC finished second. M. Heath Taylor trains with Randy Edison riding. Riley Blanchet bred Blues Fortune from the Jess Louisiana Blue mare Cartels Fortune.

Rancho La Cobra's El Dorado Stone finished third. Alfredo Triana trains with Jorge Linares riding the Heza Fast Dash gelding out of Eyejesslovelouisiana. Jumonville Farm and Burnett Ranches is the breeder.

Cajun Cos Prevails In $50,000 Flashy Hemp Stakes

The $50,000 Flashy Hemp Stakes was annexed by Hilberto Guzman’s 3-year-old filly Cajun Cos, who was ridden to victory by jockey Luis Vivanco.

The Brenda Foster trainee has an affinity for Delta Downs, all four of her career wins have come in Vinton, Louisiana. TJS Farms, Inc. bred the filly from Jls Crawfish Pie by The Crawfish. She earned $30,000 for the effort.

Cajun Cos completed the 330-yard course in :16.625 seconds, equaling a 98-speed index.

Manuel Pizana's owned-and-trained High And Caliente finished second, earning $10,000. H Heriberto Aguilar-Orozco rode the Whathaveigottado filly out of High On Sissy High by Game Patriot. Jesse Rodriguez, Jr. is the breeder.

Lil Biscuit, a daughter of leading sire Heza Fast Dash racing for MCM Farm LLC and PDC Racing earned $5,500 for third. M. Heath Taylor conditions the sorrel filly out of Biscuit Eater (TB) by Kentucky Jazz (TB). Randy Edison rode the Israel Flores-bred 4-year-old.

The Cazador Wins $50,000 Flying Breed Stakes

The $50,000 Flying Breed Stakes was taken by Rayne Knight’s The Cazador.

With jockey John Hamilton in the saddle for trainer Michael Zingelmann, the son of Sir Runway Dash completed the 220 yards in a quick 11.748 to earn a 102-speed index. The Cazador has now won six of 15 career starts and picked up $30,000 for the victory. Jls Tee Cos Jr earned $10,000 for finishing second. Wendy Garcia saddled the son of Tee Cos for owner Pina-Garcia Ranch and Gonzalez Racing. Modesto Pina was aboard the Jls Speed Horse Ranch, Inc. bred from the Captain Courage mare Fastgirlshavemorefun.

TG Horse Racing LLC's Packin A Punch finished third. Luis Martinez trains the 3-year-old Toast To Dash gelding out of El Streaker by Packin Sixes. Chris and Gary Ables bred Packin A Punch. Eddie Martinez was riding to earn $5,500.

Heza Dash Faster Best in 50,000 Live Oak Stakes

This year’s $50,000 Live Oak Stakes at 870 yards was won by Jose Carlos Hernandez’s Heza Dash Faster.

Jockey Donald Watson rode the 4-year-old Heza Fast Dash gelding out of My Elle Prada (TB) by El Prado (TB).

It was the third win in a row for the Faviola Gonzalez trainee who also took the Virgil Bond Stakes at Delta Downs May 31. Heza Dash Faster completed the 870 yards in :46.436 seconds, to earn $30,000. Bred by Easy Acres Performance Horses, Heza Dash Faster has banked $87,168.

MO Racing's Jessi Jam earned $10,000 for second. Kenneth Roberts, Sr. saddled the Jet Black Patriot filly out of Royal Rio Miss by Royal Sovereign. Juan San Miguel is the breeder and Donald Watson was riding.

Dwaynes First Perry earned $5,500 for third. James Vance trains the 7-year-old First Prize Perry for himself and Teresa Vance. Glinden Leger bred the gelding from the Dashing Val mare Vals Sky High. Everardo Rodriguez was riding.

Tuckers Prize Best in $40,000 Louisiana Starter

The $40,000 Louisiana Starter (not black type) was won by Tuckers Prize with jockey Damian Martinez riding for owner/trainer Preston Jourdan. Tuckers Prize is very consistent and has now won four times from 10 starts and has hit the board in seven of those outs.

Tuckers Prize finished the 350 yards in :17.385 seconds, a 96-speed index, to take home his biggest payday of $24,000. Kirby and Phillip Bruchhaus bred the Fast Prize Dash gelding from Bb Secrets Game by Game Patriot.

Jockey Everardo Rodriguez was aboard runner-up Sweet Caliente Royal for trainer Benjamin Wilbanks. Bulldog Racing owns the Corona Caliente gelding out of Sweets Last Toast by Toast To Dash. Bred by Ricky Bowen, he earned $8,000.

Follow My Wagon, a 3-year-old son of Jls Party Wagon picked up $4,400 for finishing third. Fernando Lopez trains the brown colt for owner Sergio Alvarez. Karen Darling Falgoust bred Follow My Wagon from the First Comment mare Come And Get Me. John Hamilton was riding.
