Beaus Famous Speeds To Victory in Evangeline Downs Derby

Beaus Famous was bred in Texas by his owner, Francisco Javier Garza. The 3-year-old One Famous Eagle gelding is trained by Saul Ramirez, Jr. and was ridden by Luis Vivanco. He completed the 400 yards in :19.673 seconds into a 10-mph crosswind to earn a 98-speed index.

Garlyn O. Shelton's homebred Eyesa Texan earned $31,025 for finishing second to almost double his bankroll to $61,282. Trainer John Stinebaugh saddled the Valiant Hero gelding out of Eyesa Shaker by Eyesa Special. Gilbert Ortiz was riding.
Trainer Juan A. Carrillo, Jr. saddled fastest qualifier Sizzlin Stewart to his third-place finish for owner Gerardo Morales. Manuel Gutierrez had the riding assignment aboard the Sizzlin Cartel gelding out of Stone Ginger by Rare Form. Bred in Texas by Stewart Horses Ltd., Sizzlin Steward earned $18,250 for the effort.
Completing the official order of finish were Jess A Tr, Dash Quick Perry, Paint My Pilot, Famousist, Gianni Que, Apollitical Girl and Fancy Mamacita.
Live racing at Evangeline Downs will resume on Monday afternoon with a 10-race program. Post time on Monday is scheduled for 3:15 pm Central Time.
