Shatto Stoli Steps Up In LQHBA Invitational Breeders Stakes


Shatto Stoli, under jockey Antonio Alberto, winning the $40,000 LQHBA Invitational Breeders Stakes Saturday night at Evangeline Downs.

OPELOUSAS, LA—NOVEMBER 19, 2016—Shatto Stoli stepped up, under jockey Antonio Alberto, to get the biggest win of his career Saturday night when defeated Tf Eyesa Firefighter by half-a-length in the $40,000 LQHBA Invitational Breeders Stakes at Evangeline Downs. Runaway Balance finished another half-a-length back in the show position.

Racing for owner Rosendo Valdez and trainer Rosendo Valdez, Jr., Shatto Stoli completed the 400 yards in :19.828 seconds, a 94 speed index with an 8 mph tailwind. It was the second win in nine starts for the Stoli gelding.

Juan San Miguel, Jr. bred the sorrel gelding from the Mr Jess Perry mare Scoopie Coochie. Shatto Stoli broke his maiden in first start March 5th at Louisiana Downs. After that he picked up two seconds and a third and used the $24,000 Invitational winner's purse to bring his earnings total to $40,325.

Still a maiden after six starts, Tf Eyesa Firefighter finished second four the fourth time in his career. J.R. Ramirez rode the Fighter On Fire gelding for owner La Herradura Racing LLC and trainer Erasmo Hernandez. Bred by Steve Tate from the Mr Eye Opener mare Eyes R Special, Tf Eyesa Firefighter picked up $8,000 for second.

Joe Badilla, Jr. had the riding call aboard Runaway Balance for trainer Michael Taylor. Ten For Ten LLC owns the Sir Runaway Dash daughter out of Special Balance, by Special Project. She earned $4,400 for the effort.

Post-time favorite Tf Ms Perrys Runaway finished sixth after breaking in at the start but was disqualified for interference and placed last. Completing the official order of finish were Lovin The Sizzle, Lil Bro Big Streak, Tee Ray, Dashing Bye, Lightemupwithcharm and Hoochie Corona.
