Saddled by trainer Martin Trejo, The Golden Bowl stepped up from a second place effort in an option-clamming race April 27th to complete the 350 yards in :17.606 seconds. The lightly raced son of champion sire Mr Eye Opener got his fourth win in nine starts and used the $15,000 Develop A Plan winner's purse to boost his career total to $34,702.
Third in the Old South Derby at Delta Downs last summer, The Golden Bowl races for owner Rogelio Marquez, Jr. Jorge Meraz bred the 4-year-old in Texas from the Dashin Bye mare First Dashin Bye.
Also coming out of an optional-claiming race earlier this month, Jb First Rose earned $5,000 for his second place effort. Alfonso Lujan had the riding call aboard the J and B Rental owned son of First Down Dash. Orlando Orozco conditions the 7-year-old Oklahoma-bred out of First Black Rose, by Heza Fast Man. Sent to the gate at odds of 5-2, The Golden Bowl paid $7.20 to win, $5 to place and $2.40 to show. Jb First Rose was worth $7.20 to place and $2.20 to show. Scoopies Leaving you paid $2.20 to show.
Completing the official order of finish were Rc Me Leaving You, Fasttimeswith Redoak and Last Man Standin. Louisiana Legends was scratched.
