Telarosa Slight Surprise In $50,000 Vinton Stakes


Telarosa, under jockey Lucas Constantin, rolls to victory in the$50,000 Vinton Stakes at Delta Downs Saturday night.

VINTON, LA—APRIL 30, 2016—Making her 3-year-old debut, Telarosa (7-10) was a slight surprise winner over stablemate Jess Louisiana Zoom in the $50,000 Vinton Stakes at Delta Downs Saturday night.

Telarosa completed the 400 yards in :19.783 seconds, a 92-speed index, over a sealed showery Delta Downs racetrack. The sorrel filly earned second career stakes victory following a three-quarter length effort under jockey Lucas Constantin. Also the winner of last summer's LQHBA Sales Futurity(RG1) at Fair Grounds Racetrack, the Jet Black Patriot filly pocketed $30,0000 to boost her career total to $193,807.

Kenneth Roberts, Sr. conditions the sorrel filly for owner Douglas Traylor. James Morgan bred Telarosa in Louisiana from the Thoroughbred daughter of Hennessy, Presumptuous. She has compiled an (8) 4-3-0 record and was also second in the RG2 Louisiana Champions Day Juvenile in her last start prior to the Vinton.

Also making her 3-year-old debut, and first start for new owner Bobby D. Cox, Jess Louisiana Zoom earned $10,000 for the runner-up effort. Also trained by Roberts, the Jess Louisiana Blue daughter put in a sold rally after getting bumped at the start under jockey Joe Badilla Jr.

The multiple graded stakes winner has won four of seven starts while earning $524,553. Lyle Guillory bred Jess Louisiana Zoom from the Azoom mare Zoomin For Cash.

Multiple stakes-placed My Favorite Blue, also by Jess Louisiana Blue, finished half-a-length back, with a game effort after getting bumped at the start, in the show position for owner Tres Ricardos Ranch and trainer Martin Trejo.

David Alvarez was aboard the Jumonville Farms bred colt out of Dasha Effort, by Fishers Dash. My Favorite Blue earned $5,500 to bring his bankroll to $82,318.

Telarosa rewarded backers with $15.20 to win $4.80 to place and $5.20 to show. Jess Louisiana Zoom paid $3.60 and $3.40 and My Favorite Blue returned $5.00 to show.

Jess Blue Intriguing, Jet Black Zoomer, Special Coors Cartel, Jess A Saint, Zoominforgrady and Blues Favorite Fish completed the field.
