Mayor Stoli Proclaims Top Mark in Louisiana Downs Maiden Stakes Trials

BOSSIER, CITY, LA—FEBRUARY 6, 2016—Mayor Stoli drew off to a one-length win over Bullet Proof Patriot in the third of six trials contested on Saturday for the Louisiana Downs Maiden Stakes (not black type) recording the top qualifying time.

The 10 fastest qualifiers will return to Louisiana Downs on Saturday, February 27 and vie for the winner's share of a $48,887 purse going 350 yards. Forty-eight head of Louisiana-breds, between the ages of 3 and 5, participated in the six trial races. Entries were required to be a maiden at the time of nomination.

Ridden by jockey Everardo Rodriguez, Mayor Stoli completed the 350 yards in :17.962 seconds with a 6 mph tailwind to garner the top qualifying spot. Carlos Saldivar saddled the 3-year-old Stoli gelding to his first career win in eight starts for owner Alejandro Sanchez, Jr. Kathleen and Steve Billings bred Mayor Stoli from the Bully Bullion mare Susanna M Salter.

Two The Max Investments, LLC's homed Tm Chick A Dee Dee kicked off the day with a half-length win in the first trial to record the second fastest time of :18.116. Randy Edison had the riding call aboard the Fast Prize Dash filly for trainer Van Haywood. Out of Call Her Dee, by Deefirst, the 3-year-old filly scored her second career win in the trials. She broke her maiden for a $10,000 tag at Evangeline Downs on December 17.
