Jessa Louisiana Zoom Tops 91 Fillies In Delta Schooling Races


Delta Downs conducted 14 schooling races for fillies on Friday night.

VINTON, LA—APRIL 3, 2015—Jessa Louisiana Zoom, a $22,000 LQHBA Yearling graduate, posted the fastest time over 90 other fillies who participated in 14 schooling races at Delta Downs Friday night.

The track is holding two-days of schooling races for two-year-olds who remain eligible for the LQHBA Lassie Futurity(RG2), LQHBA Laddie Futurity(RG2) and the Old South Futurity. The track will open its 2015 Quarter Horse Meet on April 22.

Frank Cavazos trains Jessa Louisiana Zoom, a daughter of leading sire Jess Louisiana Blue, for owners Jason Richards and Michael Leblanc. The brown filly is out of the Azoom mare, Zoomin For Cash, who is out of four-time AQHA Racing champion Corona Cash.

Ridden by jockey Danny Lavergne, Jessa Louisiana Zoom completed the 220 yards in :12.179 seconds. Blanchet Farms, LLC, Agent consigned the filly to the 2014 LQHBA Yearling Sale for breeder Lyle Guillory.

Sheza Fast Mom and Blushing First Down were each awarded identical times of :12.210 in the first race to tie for the second fastest clocking.

Kenny Roberts, Sr. saddled Sheza Fast Mom for owner/breeder Tony Doughtie. A $7,000 repurchase at last summer's LQHBA Sale, the Heza Fast Dash filly is out of the RG2 winning Toast To Dash mare Toast To My Mom. The second dam is a half-sister to leading sire Mr Jess Perry. Patrick Watson had the riding assignment.

Blushing First Down is a Swingin Jess filly out of Shesa Firstdown Jess, the dam of multiple stakes winner Separatist Firstdown. Jesus Garrido saddled the sorrel filly for owner M&G Farms, Inc. Dale Beaty had the riding assignment. Narcisco Flores is the breeder.

Trials for the 2015 Lassie Futurity will contested on Friday, April 24 and trials for the 2015 Laddie Futurity are set for Saturday, April 25 at Delta Downs. The finals for the $75,000-added RG2 events over 330 yards will be run back on Friday, May 15 and Saturday, May 16.

Trials to the Old South Futurity will be contested on May 1 with the $25,000-added final, also at 330 yards, set for Friday, May 22.

The 2015 Delta Downs Quarter Horse Meet will be run from April 22 thru July 11. The track will host the Louisiana Showcase Night on July 11 with eight stakes races for state-breds headed by the RG1 $200,000-added Lee Berwick Futurity.
