Featuring Fast Jess Rallies To Get Vinton Stakes Victory

VINTON, LA—MAY 19, 2018—Under jockey Noe Castaneda, Featuring Fast Jess rallied to get a head in front of The Cazador in the $50,000 Vinton Stakes at Delta Downs. Multiple stakes winner Dashunder Afullmoon finished another head back in the blanket-finish to get third.

Racing for owner Fernando Ramos and trainer Eduardo Morales, Featuring Fast Jess completed the 400 yards in :19.605 seconds, a 96 speed index, to take home the winners' purse worth $30,000.

Bred by Jumonville Farms and Burnett Ranch, Featuring Fast Jess is a son of leading sire Heza Fast Dash from the Mr Jess Perry mare Featuringmissiess.

Runner-up in the Mardi Gras Derby in his last start and a finalist in the LQHBA Louisiana Million(RG1) last year, Featuring Fast Jess has banked $107,897.

Ridden by jockey Joh Hamilton, runner-up The Cazador showed quick speed out of the gate before getting caught at the wire. He won the Mardi Gras Derby in his last start.

Michael Zingelmann trains the Sir Runaway Dash colt for owner Rayne Knight. Bred by Zingelmann and Curtis Crewnwelge, The Cazador is out of Told Ya by Toast To Dash. He picked up $10,000 to bring his earnings total to more than $67,000.

Making her first start since winning the RG2 Louisiana Champions Day Juvenile Stakes on December 9, Dashunder Afullmoon put in a late bid under jockey Eddie Sanchez to get third.

Trainer Robert Madrigal conditions last year's Louisiana Champion 2-Year-Old Filly for owner Rogelio Marquez, Jr. The daughter of leading sire Heza Fast Dash won three stakes last season including the Lee Berwick Futurity(RG1) and Lassie Futurity(RG2) at Delta Downs. A winner of five of seven starts she has earned $678,359. D & S Racing LLC bred Dashunder Afullmoon from the stakes winning Dash Ta Fame mare Full Moon Dasher.

Jls Dash N Fire, Eye Am Sizzlin, Sting Lika B, Diamondinthefront, Corona Ohara and Bababababababad completed the field.
