He Is The Rising Star Dominates Paul B Ford Memorial Field


He Is The Rising Star, under jockey Cesar DeAlba, winning the $20,000 Paul B Ford Memorial Handicap by 2¼ lengths Friday night at Los Alamitos Race Course.

LOS ALAMITOS, CA—DECEMBER 10, 2016—Multiple stakes winner He Is The Rising Star powered away in the 8th Friday night at Los Alamitos Race Course to win the $20,000 Paul B Ford Memorial Handicap by 2¼ lengths. Mickey Ward finished second, 1¼ lengths ahead of Getit Quick who was third.

Ridden by jockey Cesar DeAlba, the 4-year-old son of leading sire Mr Jess Perry completed the 550 yards in a quick :26.800 seconds, a 114 speed index with no wind.

AQHA Racing Champion trainer Paul Jones conditions the gelding for owner Fulton Quien Sabe Ranch. It was the 6th win in 18 starts and the $11,000 Ford winners' purse boosted his career earnings to $107,760.

Mercy Hinklins Horse Farm, LLC bred He Is The Risingstar in Texas from the Dash For Cash mare Meddlin Mischief. He kicked off his 2016 campaign by winning the Barbara B Handicap at Los Alamitos on January 10th.

Matthew Fales saddled runner-up Mickey Ward for owner/breeders Ralph and Carolyn Fales. The multiple stakes winning son of FDD Dynasty picked up $4,500 for the effort. Cruz Mendez was aboard the Arizona-bred out of A Mere Formality by Leaving Memories.

Jones also saddled third place finisher Getit Quick for owner/breeder Martha Wells. Roberto Hernandez rode the Favorite Cartel 3-year-old to his first black type finish. Out of the Separatist mare Getit Together, Getit Quick earned $2,500.

Rare Ed, Hes Sonorabound, Dustys Classy Dash, Look Of A Dasher, Kismet, Stel Heights and Front And Center completed the field.
