Heasablackmagic Dominates Par-A-Dice Stakes at Delta

VINTON, LA—JUNE 30, 2016—Juan Carrillo's Heasablackmagic clinched his first career stakes victory Thursday night in the $35,000 Par-A-Dice Stakes.

The 5-year-old son of leading Louisiana sire Jet Black Patriot put on an impressive rally down the stretch to defeat Potus by 1½ lengths at Delta Downs. Fantaztico finished a neck back in the show position.

A graded stakes-placed earner of more than $145,000, the Par-A-Dice was the first stakes win for the Juan Carrillo owned Louisiana-bred from the Toast To Dash mare Toast Of Magic.

Ridden by jockey David Alvarez, for trainer Juan Carrillo, Jr., the sorrel gelding completed the 300 yards in :15.005 seconds, 105 speed index. He earned $29,000 for the effort. Bred by Gerald Paul Vidrine, Heasablackmagic has now won seven of 22 career starts during his career.

Potus, a Texas homebred for owner/breeder Pat Allen, broke out from the 10-post but put in a late rush under jockey Noe Villatoro to pickup the second place check worth $4,000. Judd Kearl trains the multiple stakes-placed son of Toast To Dash out of Toole N Round by Jody O Toole.

Jose Espinoza's Fantaztico picked up $2,200 for finishing third. Adrian Huiton conditions the Texas-bred FDD Dynasty gelding from the multiple stakes winner Eyesa Jumpn by Eyesa Special. Damian Martinez was aboard the Vessels Stallion Farm and Jesus Huitron bred runner.

Sent off at odds of 2-1, Heasablackmagic paid $6 to win, $3.60 to place and $3 to show. Potus returned $3.40 to place and $4 to show. Fantaztico was worth $3.80 to show.

Deals Ryon, Wild Tycoon, Firefly Fortune, Cartel Jr, Jjs Black Lace, Voncitas Game and Oak Tree Eye Opener completed the field.

Delta Downs will continue with its next-to-last week of live racing on Friday night with a 10-race card that includes the $194,810 Firecracker Derby.
