Pyc First Prize Mia Prevails in Delta Dash Stakes

VINTON, LA—APRIL 23, 2016—Pyc First Prize Mia would not be denied as she held off Snipes And Bites to win the $35,000 Delta Dash Stakes by a nose Saturday night at Delta Downs. Sydney Leigh finished a length off the leaders for in the show position.

Ridden by jockey David Alvarez, Pyc First Prize Mia completed the 250 yards in :13.102 seconds to earn a 90-speed index. The $12,000 winner's purse boosted her career total to just under $40,000.

John Hamilton was aboard Sydney Leigh for owner/trainer Martin Trejo. David Bates, Jr. and Darrell Cripps bred the First Prize Perry mare in Louisiana from the Chicks Beduino mare Include. The multiple stakes-placed 6-year-old has earned $66,452.

Delta Downs will begin its second week of racing on Wednesday night with another 10-race program that will gets underway at 6:15 pm. There will be a special post time of 5 pm on Friday and Saturday nights next week as the track hosts 14 trials each evening for the Louisiana Lassie Futurity and Louisiana Laddie Futurity respectively.
