Royally Bred Jess Louisiana Zoom Easy Winner of Rich Lassie Futurity


Jess Louisiana Zoom, under jockey Danny Lavergne, rolls to an easy win in the $273,977 LQHBA Lassie Futurity(RG2) at Delta Downs Friday night. .

VINTON, LA—MAY 15, 2015—A filly with a rich family history drew clear of the field by 1¼ lengths Friday night to win the $273,977 LQHBA Lassie Futurity(RG2) at Delta Downs. Fastest qualifier Jessa Louisiana Zoom easily defeated First Kool Lajolla to get her second win in as many starts. Patriots Leaving You finished a neck back in the show position.

Ridden by jockey Danny Lavergne, Jess Louisiana Zoom completed the 330 yards in a quick :16.628 seconds to earn a 93 speed index. Frank Cavazos conditions the daughter of champion and multiple stakes sire Jess Louisiana Blue for owners for Jason Richards and Michael Leblanc.

Jess Louisiana Zoom entered the LQHBA Lassie Futurity off an impressive 1¼ length trial victory on April 24. She picked up $136,988 for the victory and pushed her total earnings mark to $146,888.

Richards and Leblanc purchased the brown filly from Azoom mare Zoomin For Cash, Jess Louisiana Zoom is a granddaughter of All American Futurity(G1) winner Corona Cash, a four-time AQHA Racing Champion. Her second dam is the three-time champion and former Broodmare of the Year Corona Chick.

Richards and Leblanc campaigned a three-quarter sister to the Lassie winner, Louisiana Corona, in 2013 and 2014. The graded stakes winner by Jess Louisiana Blue out of Corona Cash won six races and earned of $186,2056.

Grade 3 finalist and Lassie Futurity runner-up First Kool Lajolla has finished second in both her Delta Downs starts to Jess Louisiana Zoom.

The First N Kool filly races for owner Jose Guzman and trainer Jose Garcia. Ridden by Eddie Martinez, the daughter of multiple stakes sire First N Kool earned $46,988.

Also an LQHBA Yearling Sale graduate, the bay filly sold for $7,500 from the consignment of her breeder Shelby Judice. First Kool Lajolla is out of the Streakin La Jolla mare Lauri La Jolla. Earlier this year she finished sixth in the Harrah's Entertainment Futurity(G3) and has earned a total of $66,121.

Shortstop Racing's Patriots Leaving You just missed taking second for trainer Miguel Rodriguez. Randy Edison rode the Coronas Leaving You filly out of Rios Dashing Patriot, by Game Patriot.

Coming off an impressive one-length trial win, when she posted the third fastest qualifying time, Patriots Leaving You is an $8,500 LQHBA Yearling Sale graduate. Darling Farms bred the filly that picked up $27,397 to boost her earnings to more than $37,200.

Sent to the gate as the even-money favorite of the wagering public, Jessa Louisiana Zoom paid $4 to win, $2.80 to place and $2.60 to show. First Kool Lajolla returned $12.60 to place and $7 to show. Patriots Leaving You was worth $3.20 to show.

Completing the field were Its A Storm Warning, Toastin With Coronas, Punctuality, Jet Black Rouge, Three R First Rose and Jb Red Scorpion. One Tough Fox was scratched.

Delta Downs wraps up its fourth week of racing on Saturday with another 10-race program that beings at 6:15 pm CT. Saturday’s card features the $283,382 Louisiana Laddie Futurity (RG2) and the Delta 550 Stakes.
