Dashin Brown Streak Gets Track Record in Sam's Town Stakes, Two Other Undercard Stakes Run

OPELOUSAS, LA—DECEMBER 20, 2014—It took a track record for Dashin Brown Streak to hold off Grade 3 winner FDD Going Grand and Grade 3 winner First Prize Shaunda in the Sam's Town Stakes, one of three additional undercard stakes hosted on hosted on Evangeline Downs Saturday closing program for the 2014 American Quarter Horse Meet.

Dashin Brown Streak Breaks Track Record

Ridden by champion jockey G.R. Carter, Jr., Dashin Brown Streak overtook FDD Going Grand at the midway point and held on for a neck win in the $30,000 Sam's Town Stakes Saturday night at Evangeline Downs. The Hotdoggin gelding completed the 350 yard course in :17.235 to set a new track record and earn a 107 speed index.

The previous record of :17.278 was established on November 4, 2010 by Zoobilee.

The 4-year-old Dashing Brown Streak got his ninth career win in 16 starts and used the $15,000 winner's purse to boost his overall earnings mark to $253,084. Matias Lopez conditions the Louisiana-bred for owners Wade C. Navarre and Melvin Hatley. Flat Get It Farm, Inc. bred the brown gelding from the Streakin La Jolla mare Annas Streakin Dash.

FDD Going Grand was making possibly his last career start. The Grade 3 winning homebred for Mercy Hinklin's Horse Farm, LLC will begin is stallion career next year at Delta Equine Center, near Vinton, Louisiana. Kenneth Roberts, Sr. saddled the six-time winner with earnings of $197,510. Jose Vega rode the sorrel out of Cash Cartel, by Corona Cartel. He earned $5,000 for the effort.

First Prize Shaunda finished a neck back for owner Weetona Stanley and trainer Heath Taylor. The Pyc Paint Your Wagon Oklahoma-bred is from the Grade 1 winning Mr Jess Perry mare First Prize Leesa. Ridden by John Hamilton, the 4-year-old added $2,750 to bring her bankroll to $135,982. Ms. Stanley and W.E. Smith are the breeder.

Ld Streakin N Leavin, Jesastar, Patriots Toast, Lets Jess Do It, King Of The Bunnys and Charl Kid completed the field. Jjs Black Lace was scratched.

Keepn It Kool Scores Second Straight Stakes Victory in IP 870 Stakes

David Lee Vance's Keepn It Kool came off the turn three wide then drove to a neck win over Slinky Red in the $30,000 IP 870 Stakes Saturday night at Evangeline Downs. Track record holder Worlds On High weakened in the stretch to finish three-quarters back in third.

Danny Eldridge saddled Keepn It Kool to his ninth career win, third straight, in 32 starts. Ridden by John Hamilton, the First To Shine 5-year-old came into the race off a stakes win in the Races And Aces on November 22 at Evangeline. He completed the 870 yard course in :46.308 seconds, a 90 speed index.

The $18,000 winner's purse moved the multiple stakes winner's earnings to $187,388. Natalie Montgomery, DVM bred Keepn It Kool from the Thoroughbred mare Kool K.J., by Bag.

Slinky Red vied between Keepn It Kool and Worlds On High under jockey Patrick Watson. The Dashs Slinky 4-year-old races for owner Tiffani Herbert and is trained by Lanny Keith. Bred by John Hester and Charley Lacy, from the Such Easy Cash mare Such Easy Money, Slinky Red picked up $6,000 for the effort.

A multiple stakes winner of nearly $290,000 and Evangeline Downs 870 yard track record holder, Worlds On High races for Kris Locklear and is conditioned by Vann Haywood. Dennis Means had the riding call aboard the Game Patriot 8-year-old out of Sissyisonahigh, by On A High. Bred by Don Ming, he earned $3,300 for the effort.

Downtown Forrest, Wakup N Dash, Call Me Cajun Pie, T Boy P and McM Zuper Man completed the field.

First Prize Copy Steps Up In Blue Chip Starter Stakes

First Prize Copy took command early and raced to a half-length win over Jw Divino Comento in the $20,000 Blue Chip Starter Stakes (not black-type) in Saturday's 8th race. King Daddy Dove as a half-a-length back in third.

Ridden by jockey David Alvarez, First Prize Copy got his seventh career win in 19 starts. The 4-year-old First Prize Perry gelding covered the 330 yards in a quick :16.579 seconds, to earn a 102 speed index. The $12,000 winner's purse pushed career mark past the grand mark to $106,263.

Martin Trejo conditions First Prize Copy for owner Ana Alvidrez. He entered the race off an optional claiming win at Evangeline on November 13. Teddy Mendoza and Patrick Wertz bred the brown gelding from the First To Shine mare Shiney Copy.

John Hamilton was aboard Jw Divino Comento for owner Ax'l Metal Roofing. J.W. Owens bred the First Comment gelding trained by Jeff Acuna. Out of the Heza Fast Man mare By Divine Right, Jw Divinao Comento earned $4,000 for the effort.

King Daddy Dove, a 4-year-old King Corona gelding owned by Guillermo Herrera, earned $2,200 for third. Carlos Saldivar trains with Antonio Albert getting the riding call. Coupe & Richards Racing, LLC bred King Daddy Dove from the Jazzing Hi mare Jazzing Micki.

Toast To Dasher, Da Honey Badger, Voncitas Game, Smart Comment and Cash For Jet Black completed the field. Chicks Patriot and Dynastys Game were both scratches.
