OPELOUSAS, LA—OCTOBER 3, 2021—Ten 350-yard Louisiana QHBA Sale Futurity (RG1) trials will be contested at Evangeline Downs on Friday. Post time for the first race is set for 5:35 p.m. (CDT), with the last heat scheduled to go off at 9:20.

A total of 88 state-bred 2-year-olds are entered, headed by multiple graded stakes winner Blood Money and graded stakes winners KK Sandra Patriot and Sheza Fast Blood. Blood Money is an undefeated Apollitical Blood colt trained by Rosendo Valdez Jr. for owner Rojas Racing Stables LLC. Blood Money has earned $601,131 from four starts -- all at Delta Downs -- and his four wins include victories in the June 12, 330-yard Louisiana Breeders’ Laddie Futurity (RG2) and July 31, 350-yard Lee Berwick Futurity (RG1).

Blood Money drew post 2 and will be ridden by Everardo Rodriguez in the sixth trial.

KK Sandra Patriot races for Ruse Ranch LLC from the barn of trainer Erika Huitron. A brown daughter of Game Patriot, the filly broke her maiden with a half-length win in the 300-yard, $350,000 Mardi Gras Futurity (RG2) at Louisiana Downs on March 27.

KK Sandra Patriot drew post 4 and will be ridden by Nestor Duran in the ninth heat.

Sheza Fast Blood was a $15,500 purchase at last year’s LQHBA Yearling Sale. Trained by Michael Zingelmann for owner Rayne Knight, the Apollitical Blood filly has won three of five races -- including the June 12, 330-yard Louisiana Breeders’ Lassie Futurity (RG2) at Delta Downs -- and she has banked $192,883.

Sheza Fast Blood will be ridden by Gilbert Ortiz from post 3 in the 10th trial.

The 10 fastest qualifiers will meet in the October 30, $150,000-added LQHBA Sale Futurity final.
