Apollitical High Returns in Vinton Stakes


Mardi Gras Derby winner Apollitical High will make his next start in Monday’s 400-yard, $50,000 Vinton Stakes (R) at Delta Downs.

VINTON, L—JUNE 2, 2021—--Rosendo Valdez’s Apollitical High, a sorrel son of Apollitical Blood and a $12,000 purchase at the 2019 Louisiana QHBA Yearling Sale, is one of six state-bred 3-year-olds entered in Monday’s 400-yard, $50,000 Vinton Stakes (R) at Delta Downs.

Apollitical High will be making his official first start since March 27, when the gelding scored a wire-to-wire, 1 1/4-length victory in the 400-yard, $121,000 Mardi Gras Derby (R) for state-bred sophomores at Louisiana Downs. Apollitical High has won three of nine races and has banked $67,731 while racing in Louisiana and Texas.

Apollitical High drew post 5 and will be ridden by David Alvarez for trainer Rosendo Valdez Jr.
