Queen Washita, Not Perry Pretty Return in Firecracker Derby Trials

Oklahoma Derby winner Queen Washita will start Friday in the 400-yard Firecracker Derby trials at Delta Downs.

VINTON, LA—JUNE 6, 2016—Graded stakes winners Queen Washita and Not Perry Pretty will square off in the first of four 400-yard Firecracker Derby trials at Delta Downs on Friday.

A brown daughter of champion Inseperable trained by Adrian Huitron for owner Jorge Aguilera, Queen Washita will be making her first career start at Delta Downs. The filly has won three of his last four starts, including the 350-yard, $300,000 Oklahoma Derby (G3) at Remington Park on March 26.

Queen Washita drew post 8 and will be ridden by Manuel Gutierrez.

Not Perry Pretty made her sophomore debut with a fifth-place finish, 1 1/2 lengths behind winner Pyc First Prize Mia, in the 350-yard, $25,000 Mother’s Day Stakes for older distaffers at Delta on May 7. Trained by Michael Taylor for owner Kaitlen V. Emfinger, the sorrel daughter of Dash Ta Fame won all four of her 2-year-old starts, including the 350-yard, $318,000 Firecracker Futurity (G2) at Delta.

David Alvarez will ride Not Perry Pretty from post 2.

The 10 fastest qualifiers will meet in the July 1, $100,000-added Firecracker Futurity final.
