First Two-Year-Old Schooling Races of Season Set Friday at Louisiana Downs


New 2-year-olds will face off for the first time on Friday during 12 schooling races carded for state-breds at Louisiana Downs.

BOSSIER CITY, LA—JANUARY 27, 2016—Louisiana Downs will conduct schooling races for Louisiana-Bred 2-year-olds that are eligible for the 2016 Mardi Gras Futurity on Friday.

The track has scheduled 12 races at 220 yards to begin at 11:00 a.m. (CST). Seventy-two state-breds will face off for the first time with six horses entered in each race.

Louisiana Downs’ stakes schedule this season will be topped by the 300-yard, $300,000-est. Mardi Gras Futurity (RG2) for state-bred juveniles on March 12 (trials Feb. 20) and the 300-yard, $250,00-est. Harrah’s Futurity (G3) on closing day (trials March 1).

Harrah's Futurity entries will get their first official schooling races next Friday, February 5.

Patrons who cannot attend the schooling races may watch them by going to the Louisiana Downs website prior to the 11:00 a.m. post and CLICKING HERE. Replays will also be available later that day.

Jumonville Farms and StallioneSearch.com will provide track goers with a program that includes the sire, dam, owner, trainer, jockey and sale information (if applicable) of each entry. Persons who cannot attend may download a PDF version by CLICKING HERE.
