Scooter Prize Looks to Maintain Good Form in Delta’s John Alleman Memorial


Scooter Prize will head Wednesday's $50,000 John Alleman Memorial Stakes (RG3) on opening night at Delta Downs.

VINTON, LA-—APRIL 19, 2015-—Fresh off of a successful winter season at Louisiana Downs, Ana Alvidrez’s Scooter Prize is one of seven state-bred sprinters entered in Wednesday’s 350-yard, $50,000 John Alleman Memorial Stakes (RG3) at Delta Downs.

Trained by Martin Trejo, Scooter Prize won two of her three outs at Louisiana Downs, both against stakes company. The 4-year-old daughter of First Prize Perry is coming off of a convincing 1 1/2-length victory in the March 21, 400-yard Streakin La Jolla Stakes.

Scooter Prize drew the rail post and will be ridden by David Alvarez.

Open Me A Corona, a 5-year-old son of Coronas Leaving You racing for Charles Forbes Jr. and Tommy Hays, was the only horse to defeat Scooter Prize during the Louisiana Downs meet. The stallion pinned a half-length defeat on Scooter Prize in the 350-yard, $25,000 Mr Jess Perry Stakes (R) on February 28.

Open Me A Corona is trained by Bobby Martinez. Saul Ramirez Jr. has been named to ride Open Me A Corona from post 2.
