EVD Dash Opens Evangeline Downs Meet

OPELOUSAS, LA—SEPTEMBER 25, 2019—Evangeline Downs will open its fall Quarter Horse meet with a nine-race program on Friday. Post time for the first race is set for 5:35 p.m. (CDT).
Evangeline Downs’ traditional opening-night feature, the 220-yard, $20,000 EVD Dash, has been split into two divisions. Mag 1, a 3-year-old son of the Mr Jess Perry stallion Mr Jess Kue, will risk his three-race win streak in the first division. Trained by Katie Carlos for owner Mag 3 Racing, the bay gelding is coming off of a neck victory in a 250-yard, $25,000 non-winners-of-three allowance dash for Louisiana-breds at Fair Grounds Racecourse on August 31.
Mag 1 drew the rail post and will be ridden by Damian Martinez.

Hilberto Guzman’s Cajun Cos, a sophomore daughter of the Corona Cartel stallion Tee Cos trained by Brenda Foster, heads a field of nine sprinters entered in the second division of the EVD Dash.
Cajun Cos will be making her first start since July 6, when the filly scored a neck victory in a 330-yard, $50,000 stakes for Louisiana-bred fillies and mares at Delta Downs. Cajun Cos has earned $52,220 from five outs this season.
Cajun Cos drew post 4 and will be ridden by Antonio Alberto.
