Ten Sophomores Entered Back in Grade 3 Firecracker Derby

VINTON, LA—JUNE 30, 2019—Mia Jet In, the fastest qualifier from three trials run on June 7, is one of 10 3-year-olds entered back in Wednesday’s 400-yard, $186,925 Firecracker Derby (G3) at Delta Downs.
Trained by Kenneth Weeks for owner Lester Colomb Jr., Mia Jet In is coming off of a neck victory in the first Firecracker Derby trial. The homebred daughter of Jet Black Patriot has earned $90,964 from 11 races, and she ended her 2-year-old campaign with a third-place finish in the 400-yard, $311,000 Evangeline Downs Futurity on December 15.
Mia Jet In drew post 7 and will be ridden by Luciano Duenez.
Blaine Beene’s Parti Wagon, a stakes-winning PYC Paint Your Wagon gelding trained by Nason Eschete, drew post 2 and will be ridden by Rolando Pina. Parti Wagon has won two of his three starts during the current Delta meet, including the 350-yard, $74,115 Old South Derby on May 10.
