OPELOUSAS, LA—NOVEMBER 27, 2015—Pete Scarmardo’s Dash Dont Cheat, a homebred son of the First Down Dash stallion Down N Dash, is one of 87 2-year-olds entered in Friday’s 400-yard Evangeline Downs Futurity trials at Evangeline Downs.

Dash Dont Cheat is coming off of a sixth-place finish, one length behind winner Famous Little Reba, in the 400-yard, $449,000 Dash For Cash Futurity (G1) at Lone Star Park. Trained by Larry Kopycinski, the gelding has earned $52,784 from seven outs.

Dash Dont Cheat will be ridden by Francisco Calderon from post 4 in the eighth of nine trials. The gelding’s nine opponents in heat 8 include A Kool Secret, a graded stakes placed colt by No Secrets Here trained by Fructuoso Huitron for owners Norma Guerrero and Cynthia Cruz, and Tony Doughtie’s King Brett, a homebred Hadtobenuts gelding trained by Kenneth Roberts Sr. who was a finalist in the May 30, $1.170-million Heritage Place Futurity (G1) at Remington Park.

Other prominent 2-year-olds entered in Friday’s trials include Undaunted, a chestnut son of Corona Cartel trained by Brian Muse for owner Undaunted 13. The colt will be making his first start since October 10, when he ran second, a neck behind winner Streakin PR, in the 350-yard, $214,000 Valley Junction Futurity at Prairie Meadows.

Undaunted drew the rail post and will be ridden by G.R. Carter Jr. in the fourth heat.

The 10 fastest qualifiers will meet in the $100,000-added Evangeline Downs Futurity on December 19.
