Stakes Tripleheader Set for Saturday at Evangeline Downs

OPELOUSAS, LA—DECEMBER 8, 2020—Pyc Painted Streaker, a stakes-winning son of Pyc Paint Your Wagon racing for Valerie Moya, drew post 6 for Saturday’s 400-yard, $317,265 Evangeline Downs Futurity (G3) at Evangeline Downs.

The seventh-fastest qualifier, Pyc Painted Streaker made his local debut with a half-length victory in one of 11 Evangeline Downs Futurity trials on November 13. The gelding has won four of five starts, and his resume includes a second-place finish, a half of a length behind winner Onemoreandimgone, in the 400-yard, $364,000 Dash For Cash Futurity (G2) at Lone Star Park on September 27.

Pyc Painted Streaker will be ridden by Jose I. Martinez.

The Evangeline Downs Futurity is one of three stakes scheduled on the track’s 10-race Saturday program, which gets underway at 5:35 p.m. (CST). Ten 3-year-olds are entered back in Saturday’s 400-yard, $111,180 Evangeline Downs Derby.

Oscar Rios Jr.’s I Am Valiant, a graded stakes winning son of Valiant Hero, drew post 5 and will be ridden by Victor M. Urieta Jr. for trainer Alonso Neri. The colt scored an upset victory at odds of 29-1 in the 440-yard, $136,000 Dash For Cash Derby (G3) at Lone Star Park on September 27.

Other contenders include Wagons Dash, a gelded son of Pyc Paint Your Wagon trained by Eric Long for owner Edward H. Scott. Wagons Dash has banked $48,337 from eight outs this year, and his season resume includes a second-place finish, a neck behind I Am Valiant, in the Dash For Cash Derby.

Wagons Dash drew post 7 and will be ridden by Everardo Rodriguez.

SS Classyjess, a 4-year-old daughter of Rock Solid Jess owned by Edgar Rosales, is one of 10 aged sprinters entered in Saturday’s 350-yard, $20,000 Sam’s Town Stakes. SS Classyjess is coming off of a Lone Star Park fall campaign during which the mare won two stakes, including the 400-yard, $122,000 Yellow Rose Stakes (R) for Texas-bred fillies and mares on October 17. SS Classyjess drew post 4 and will be ridden by Juan I. Garcia for trainer Jose Carrizales.
