Edmundo Juarez' Guidry Pride II won the year's first official futurity on Saturday, the $310,466 Mardi Gras Futurity(G1) and The Cazador returned as the fastest qualifier to win the $87,506 Mardi Gras Derby.

Coverage of the Mardi Gras Futurity(RG2) weekend is sponsored entirely by the Louisiana Quarter Horse Breeders Association. In 2017, the LQHBA gave out more than $4.2 Million in breeders awards, as well as over a half-million dollars in stallion awards.

Each year in August, the LQHBA hosts the LQHBA Annual Yearling Sale in Kinder, Louisiana. The headquarters of the LQHBA are located in Alexandria, Louisiana.
