Mister Big Returns to Win Column in Harrah's Dash Stakes on Saturday


Multiple stakes winner Mister Big, under jockey Damian Martinez, won the $15,000 Harrah's Dash Stakes on Saturday's 2017 Quarter Horse season opening day card.

BOSSIER CITY, LA—JANUARY 7, 2017—After going winless in six starts last season, graded stakes winner Mister Big got his fourth career stakes victory on Saturday when he defeated Scoopies Leaving You by half-a-length in the $15,000 Harrah's Dash Stakes opening day of the 2017 Quarter Horse meet at Louisiana Downs. Cartel Arrangement finished a neck back the show position.

Ridden by jockey Damian Martinez, Mister Big completed the 250 yards in :13.238 seconds, into a 6-mph crosswind, to earn a 99-speed index. Trainer Eusevio Huitron saddled the 6-year-old to sixth career win. The Shazoom gelding earned $9,000 for the effort.

The Hugo Morales owned Texas-bred has compiled a (21) 6-6-3 record and earned $239,390 as he enters his fifth season of racing. Bred by Jerry Windham, from the Mr Jess Perry mare Jess An Illusion, Mister Big won the Grade 3 Sam Houston Derby, TQHA Sires' Cup Derby and the Retama Park Derby Challenge.

Graded stakes winner Scoopies Leaving You boosted his career total to $286,080 after picking up $3,000 for owner Joel Galindo. Kevin Broussard conditions the 6-year-old son of Coronas Leaving You. Donald Watson was aboard the Gerald Libersat Louisiana-bred from the Toast To Dash mare Ms Scoopies Toast.

Jockey Everardo Rodriguez had the riding assignment aboard Cartels Arrangement for trainer Javier Contreras. Humberto Amaro owns the stakes winning son of Carters Cartel from the Hawkinson mare Hawks Dancing Straw. Christine Hudson is the breeder.

Completing the Harrah's Dash field were Jw Divino Comento, One Dimple, Paloma Blanca B, Fly By You, Buxamillion, Coronas In Paradise and post-time favorite Barefoot Beach.
