Runaway Balance Gets First Stakes Win In Fairgrounds French Quarter

NEW ORLEANS, LA—SEPTEMBER 9, 2017—Runaway Balance broke sharp under jockey Donald Watson then drew off from runner-up Pyc First Prize Mia by 1-¼ lengths to get her first career black-type victory in the $35,000 French Quarter Stakes at Fairgrounds Racecourse on Saturday. Shez The Bomb was a nose back to take third-place.

The daughter of multiple stakes sire Sir Runaway Dash covered the 330 yards in a quick :16.466 clocking to record a 105 speed index into a 15 mph headwind. The $21,000 winners' purse boosted her career earning to $81,420.

Trainer Bruce Bell saddled the chestnut filly to her fourth career win in nine starts for owner Dwayne Saucier. K. LaFleur, D. Primeau and R. Brown bred Runaway Balance in Louisiana from the Special Project mare Special Balance.

Multiple stakes winner Pyc First Prize Mia picked up $5,000 for her runner-up effort. Kenneth Weeks conditions the Pyc Paint Your Wagon mare for owner Lester Colomb, Jr. Santiago Mendez was board the Weetona Stanley-bred earner of $68,220. She is out of the Fly Jess Fly mare First Prize Diamond.

Third-place finisher Shez The Bomb races for owner Watson Land and Cattle and Live Oak Farms. Eusevio Huitron conditions the Live Oak Farms-bred daughter of Heza Fast Dash out of Mornin Jess by Mr Jess Perry. Winner of the Audobon Stakes in her last start, August 19, Shez The Bomb earned $3,850 in increase her bankroll to $125,081.

Tdz Fast Dasher, Peyton Sawyer, Punctuality, Rcv Sheza Classydash, Jls Ms Politicaljess and Rdd Jessaswingin completed the field. E Catching Fire was scratched.
