Delta’s Miss Polly Classic Draws Eight


Former world champion Jrc Callas First will make his next start in the $50,000 Miss Polly Classic Stakes (G3) at Delta Downs on Saturday.

VINTON, LA—JUNE 20, 2016—Jrc Callas First, a 6-year-old Winners Award gelding and the sport’s 2014 world champion, is one of eight aged sprinters entered in Saturday’s 400-yard, $50,000 Miss Polly Classic Stakes (G3) at Delta Downs.

Racing for Brian and Dana Stroud, Jrc Callas First will be dropping in class and shortening in distance off of his eighth-place finish in the 440-yard, $250,000 Remington Park Championship (G1) on June 4. The gelding’s season record includes a wire-to-wire, 1 1/4-length victory in the 440-yard, $108,000 Bank of America Sam Houston Challenge Championship (G2) on April 16.

Jrc Callas First drew post 5 and will be ridden by Jerry Lee Yoakum. The gelding’s seven opponents include Exquisite Stride, a stakes-winning 4-year-old Carters Cartel stallion trained by Michael Taylor for owner David and Sherry Dunn’s D & S Racing LLC. Exquisite Stride is coming off of a fourth-place finish, a neck behind winner Im Beau Brown, in the May 22, 440-yard Bank of America Remington Challenge Championship (G2).

Joe Badilla Jr. will ride Exquisite Stride from post 8.
