Open Me A Corona Scores John Alleman Memorial Victory


Open Me A Corona, under jockey Saul Ramirez, Jr., cruises to victory in the $50,000 John Alleman Memorial Stakes at Delta Downs.

VINTON, LA—APRIL 22, 2015—Ridden by jockey Saul Ramirez, Jr., Open Me A Corona rolled to his eighth career win from 10 starts following a three-length effort over multiple stakes-placed Heza Fast Rouge in the $50,000 John Alleman Memorial Stakes on Delta Downs opening night, for the 2015 Quarter Horse meeting, Wednesday.

Saddled by trainer Bobby Martinez, the Coronas Leaving You 5-year-old completed the 350 yards in :17.477 seconds to earn a 92 speed index. The $30,000 winner's purse boosted the five-time stakes winner's earnings to $570,298.

Owned by Tommy Hays and Charles Forbes, Jr., Open Me A Corona entered the race off win in the Mr Jess Perry Stakes at Louisiana Downs on February 28. He is now 2-for-2 this season.

Still looking for his first win this year, Heza Fast Rouge was third in the Streakin La Jolla Stakes at Louisiana Downs in his last start. The Heza Fast Dash 4-year-old picked up $10,000 for his second place effort, pushing his earning to $253,500. Kevin Broussard conditions the colt out of Miss Jess Rouge, by Mr Jess Perry, for owners Jacque Bourque and Brock Broussard. Triple M Farms, LLC is the breeder and Donald Watson had the riding assignment.

Elianny Estupinan's Eye Get The Blue finished a neck back in the show position for trainer Eduardo Morales. Antonio Alberto was aboard the Jess Louisiana Blue 4-year-old form the Mr Eye Opener mare Kdwantsafastone. The brown gelding earned $5,500 to bring his bankroll to $86,597. Kathleen and Steve Billings is the breeder.

Scooter Prize, Fast Talkin Henry and Jess Good Lookin completed the field. Forever Steph was scratched.

Live racing resumes at Delta Downs on Thursday night with another 10-race program that gets underway at 6:15pm CT. Thursday’s card featured the $25,000 Delta Dash Stakes. Delta Downs will wrap up the opening week of racing with 13 qualifying trials for the $273,977 Louisiana Lassie Futurity on Friday night and 14 trials for the $283,382 Louisiana Laddie Futurity on Saturday night. There will be a special early post time for each trial night of 5:15 pm CT.
