LQHBA to Award Scholarships on Breeders Futurity Night

ALEXANDRIA, LA—OCTOBER 30, 2015—LQHBA announced today during their November 16th Board Meeting they will pick four recipients, from entries submitted to the organization by Louisiana high school graduates or a student who is graduating from a Louisiana high school in 2016, to receive $1,500 scholarships.

Scholarship entrants must be a Louisiana high school graduate or a student who is graduating from a Louisiana High School in 2016 and will attend a higher education institution in the calendar year 2016. Scholarships are limited to the cost of tuition, books (electronic or printed) and required electronic study materials only. The proceeds of the scholarship will be paid directly to the educational institution the recipient attends. They must submit a scholarship entry form to the association by Friday, November 13, 2015.

In addition a special $5,000 live scholarship drawing will be held November 28th in the Evangeline Downs winners circle following the third race. Louisiana high-school graduates and seniors graduating in 2016 must attend the races at Evangeline Downs Saturday, November 28. They must register in person between 4:30 pm. and 6:00 p.m. at Evangeline Downs on the first floor in the vicinity of the clubhouse elevators. The track is located at 2235 Creswell Lane Extension, Opelousas, Louisiana.

All scholarship recipients are required to participate in promotional photos receiving their scholarship award certificate.

The stallion Tee Cos and Michelle Mitchell are contributors who have funded these great scholarships for these Louisiana students. In all a total of $11,000 in scholarships will be awarded that evening, which also corresponds with the $1 million LQHBA Breeders' Futurity final at the racetrack.
