Jockey Everardo Rodriguez Rides Five Winners at Louisiana Downs Wednesday


Jockey Everardo Rodriguez, aboard Tee Mahoo, won five races on Louisiana Downs seven-race card Wednesday afternoon.

BOSSIER CITY, LA—JANUARY 26, 2022—Everardo Rodriguez, last year's winningest Quarter Horse Jockey in the nation, scored five wins today (Jan 26) on Louisiana Downs' seven-race card.

Currently fifth on the Louisiana Downs jockey leaders for 2022, Rodriguez picked up his first winner in Wednesday's second race, a $8,300 QH $10,000-Claiming for LA-Bred 3-year-olds & Up, aboard Cold Call Wagon, a daughter of multiple stakes sire Bp Wagon Train.

His second win came in Race 3, a $6,300 Maiden Fillies & Mares 3-year-olds & Up with Angelas Queen. The daughter of Tres Seis won the 440 yard event by 3-¾ lengths in :22.315 seconds into an 8 mph crosswind.

In Race 4, a $5,300 QH $10,000-Claiming for 3-year-olds & Up who have never won two races, he rode One Sweet Man, a 3-year-old son of multiple stakes sire One Sweet Jess to a nose win.

Rodriguez kept the win streak alive in Race 5 with a three-quarter length win aboard Jesa Valiant Hero in a $6,300 Maiden 3-year-olds & Up going 440 yards. The Valiant Hero 4-year-old completed the task in :22.500 seconds into an 8 mph crosswind.

The jockeys fifth winner came in the card closing seventh race aboard Tee Mahtoo. The son of multiple stakes sire Tee Cos was an impressive 1-¾ length winner in a $6,800 220 yard $5,000-Claiming for Louisiana-bred 3-year-old & up.

Last year Rodriguez finished the year as the nation's top jockey by wins with 147. He also posted 18 stakes wins and was second in overall earnings with $3,410,643.

Live racing at Louisiana Downs returns Monday, January 31st with another seven-race card. First post is 1:00 p.m. (CST).

Live Quarter Horse racing will be conducted Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday through March 2. Beginning Sunday, March 6, the schedule changes to Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Two Thursday race cards will be added for the final two weeks of the season. Post time will be 1:00 p.m. (Central).
