Louisiana Champions Day Set December 11, Entries Close Saturday December 4


Entries close Saturday, December 4 for the 2021 Louisiana Champions Day Stakes races at Fair Grounds Race Course.

NEW ORLEANS, LA—NOVEMBER 30, 2021— Accredited Louisiana-Bred Quarter Horses will participate in three stakes races on Saturday, December 11th as part of the annual Louisiana Champions Day at Fair Grounds Race Course in New Orleans.

Entries close Saturday, December 4 at the Fair Grounds and Horseman who have nominated for any of the races must enter Saturday, December 4 at the Fair Grounds.

Quarter Horse races slated on the December 11th race card include:

  • Louisiana Champions Day Juvenile (RG2) – 2YO's 350 yards
    $100,000 Guaranteed
  • Louisiana Champions Day Derby (RG3) - 3 YO's 400 yards
    $100,000 Guaranteed
  • Louisiana Champions Day Classic (RG2) - 4 YO's & Up 440 yards
    $100,000 Guaranteed

The entry fee of $600 must be on deposit at the Horsemen’s Bookkeeper prior entry. Plus $145 Jockey Mount – TOTAL $745. Please refer to the Fair Grounds Condition Book for entry rules and check with the LQHBPA and Fair Grounds Racing Office for requirements to enter the grounds.

According to the track's website, all guests and team members are required to wear an approved facial covering or mask which covers both their nose and mouth. Thy only exception is when consuming food or beverages.

City of New Orleans Official vaccination mandate requires all guests and team members to show proof of at least one dose of a vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test within the past 72 hours to gain entry.

Preference for each of the three races will be determined by 2021 earnings, through and including November 28th, as verified by the American Quarter Horse Association.
